This automatic caliber 315 movement is rhodium-plated with fausses côtes decoration and the Seal of Geneva quality mark stamp. It IS constructed with 316 parts and contains a straight-line lever escapement, a shock absorber mechanism, and a 21K gold rotor. The patented Patek Gyromax balance spring that compensates for cold, heat, isochronism, and five positions.
The mechanism oscillates at 21,600 vph (3Hz) and has a self-compensating free-sprung flat balance spring.
Three correction push-pieces to adjust the calendar indications:
Month correction at 2 o'clock, date correction at 4 o'clock, and day of week correction at 10 o'clock
The dial, case, and movement are all signed.
This Annual Calendar mechanism distinguishes between months of 30 and 31 days; the ingenious mechanism is entirely rotary, without the uneven movements of cams and springs in the conventional perpetual calendar.
Patek Philippe produced this model from 1996 to 2005 and was named "Watch of the Year" in 1996.
